The passing of Tunku Laksamana of Johor Tunku Abdul Jalil Sultan Ibrahim has left Malaysians mourning the loss of a great man who inspired hope, trust, and gave chivalry a complete revival- showing people how to be a good person by example.
Tunku Abdul Jalil was truly a one-of-a-kind, compassionate person whose loss will be felt by everyone.
His highness was loved by all and by no means, an average ruler. He was the true definition of a Good Samaritan.
To memorialise the beautiful memory of Tunku Abdul Jalil, The Coverage Bureau has compiled 20 reasons why the powerhouse of a ruler is so dearly loved by us Malaysians.
1.He Was Humble
He never liked standing out of the crowd. Being a man born into a Royal family, his Highness was born with the many luxuries and was armed with unparallel authority- so much in fact, that we sometimes forget that he is a human on the inside, just like us. He often posts photos on his social media accounts of him being adorably silly, humbling himself, so people know that deep down, he is still a young man who has fun every now and then- making us Malaysians feel more relatable to him and love him even more.
2.He Was The Symbol Of “Anak Bangsa Johor”
3.He Wasn’t Afraid To Be Normal
4.He Could Cook
He showed Malaysian men that it’s not emasculating to cook. If a Prince can cook with pride, so can you! Having cooking skills on-parr with Gordon Ramsey will not make you any less of a man.
5.He Was The Fashion Trendsetter Of Malaysia
6.He Was Funny
He had a great sense of humour.
7.He Loved Animals
He had a soft-spot for animals.
8.He Never Believed That Being Truthful Could Emasculate A Man
He never saw the acknowledgement of something cute to be emasculating- unlike most men who refuse to even use the word cute; believing that it emasculates their self-being; showing men that it’s alright to be yourself and not be afraid of what the world thinks of you.
9.He Always Obliges When He Gets Asked For A Photo Together
10.He Had A Soft Spot For Exotic Animals
11.He Was A Go-Getter
12.He Was Cheeky
13.He Showed Support To Everyone
He showed great support for small businesses and always saw to it that he helped pave a way for them to strive.
14.He Had Strong Views Against Degrading People
He had strong views against physical shaming and always believed that you should never put someone down.
15.He Understood The Importance Of The English Language
He had a great conviction for the English Language and is one of the few pioneers in Malaysia who understand that it is one of the most effective avenue to take in order to progress Malaysia.
16.He Trained To Be A Policeman
Despite his Royal status, his Highness insisted on receiving police training and was awarded the title of Inspector. He also insisted on not receiving any special treatment during the training as he wanted to experience what the real training was.
17.He Loved Being Normal
Despite being a Prince, he takes pleasure in doing common things like visiting the flea market. A truly humble thing for a Prince to do.
18.He Genuinely Cared For His People
His highness erased the modern stereotype that Royalties are arrogant and ignore the pain of their people by hiding behind their luxuries and high golden gates. Tunku Abdul Jalil frequently found the time out of his busy schedule to visit his people and showed them that he knew of their suffering, and was there to help- regardless of their race.
19.He Understood The Pain Of Others
As a man who had cancer, he understood the hardship of battling the wicked disease and endeavoured the most big-hearted of ways to help others like him in their fight against cancer.
20.He Reaches Out To The Weak And Frail
He cradles the weak and injured with his big heart, taking the time to personally meet patients in wards and always encouraged them on- planting a brilliant seed of happiness and hope in them.
21.He Never Ignored The Hardship Of His People
His Highness never turned a blind eye to the suffering of his people and always saw to it that he helped them in any way he best could.
22.He Showed Compassion and Kindness To Those Who Never Had It
He made sure to show compassion to the brave men and women of the police force, who are often neglected.
23.He’s Friendly With All Races
24. He Sees Law Enforcers As Equals
He has a great regard for officers of the law, being a policeman himself, and greatly treasures the brave men and women who work hard to keep our streets safe- and he sees them as his equals; his friends.
25.He Wants To Make Sure That All Good Deeds By Underdogs Never Go Unnoticed
Tunku Abdul Jalil was truly one-of-a-kind; a true powerhouse of love and compassion that knew no equal.
If there was a test for how amazing a person was- by God, he aced it.
The Coverage Bureau extends our most heartfelt of condolences to the Royal Family of Johor for their loss and assures that the rest of Malaysia is here for them in this time of mourning.
