If you are Malaysian you would agree that teh tarik is hands down the most popular drink in our country. In fact, we made sure all of our friends from overseas try the popular teh tarik at least once! You’re not getting a taste of Malaysia if you never tried our national drink!
While teh tarik is usually priced between RM1 and RM2 per cup, did you know that you could get it at this stall for only RM0.20?

The stall owner of Gerai Pak Usop, Ahmad Thalhaah told Harian Metro that he initially took it as a joke and it was a challenge to sell teh tarik at this price point.
“A lot of people were shocked when I first introduced this price (20 cents) earlier last year. Some even called me ‘crazy tauke’ (crazy boss).
“To be honest, this special price is dedicated to my regular customers who’ve been supporting my business all this while.”

Many were shocked and couldn’t believe their ears when they first heard that, as the price of everything seems to be rising. In some places, you may even need to pay RM2 for a cup of warm, foamy, Malaysian pulled tea.
What’s more, Ahmad refuses to use extra sugar to sweeten the tea as for him, it’s all about serving good quality teh tarik.
“This stall is frequented by public servants and local residents because it’s nearby Kompleks Penyiaran Kedah and we can sell up to 300 cups per day!”

While the promotion was intended to last for only a month, the father of two has decided to extend the promotion until the end of 2018 due to popular demand.
Aside from Kedah’s RM1.30 chicken rice with bean sprouts, RM2 economy rice, and RM1 grilled chicken rice, Gerai Pak Usop is one of the many super affordable drinks and food stalls. Parents would stop by the friendly owner’s stall for a cup of bubbly teh tarik after sending their kids to school every morning.

But keep in mind, the incredible deal is only available from 6 am to 9 am every morning, after that, it’ll be back to the original price of RM1. Hey, it’s still pretty affordable!
Do give Ahmad’s stall a visit when you happen to be in Kedah. His stall is in Taman Pelangi, Jalan Kuala Kedah, Alor Setar.
These days, it’s difficult to find vendors who would sacrifice their profit for the happiness of the customers. Ahmad, you have our full respect!
