Foreign exchange forces Mazda to raise vehicle price

Prices for Mazda vehicles in Malaysia is expected to skyrocket next year as announced by Bermaz CEO Datuk Seri Ben Yeoh at a conference tonight. The head of Mazda’s local distributor said that the move is carried out due to forex movements.

The company has been trying to maintain the pricing as long as they could. However, the recent strengthening of the Japanese Yen against the Malaysian ringgit caused the price raise inevitable, Yeoh stated.

During the event, Mazda also previewed the new CX-9 to the media. The second-generation CX-9, the brand’s flagship SUV and the larger counterpart to the popular CX-5, will be launched in June 2017. Powered by theSkyActiv 2.5T turbocharged engine, it will come in 2WD and AWD variants with Mazda’s i-ActivSense safety technology and generous equipment.
