If you love unicorns and colorful things, this is just for you!
A California beauty has transformed her Downtown L.A. loft apartment, where she lives with her loving and supporting husband Salvatore into what can only be described as a unicorn’s paradise or what she calls ‘Cloudland’.
Amina Mucciolo is a social media influencer and decor designer at her own business Studio Mucci. She lives her whole life in technicolor, from her incredible rainbow braids to her clothes to her food.
“It’s really important to me that where I live is a reflection of me and my personality, and also of my husband. We like for our space to be fun and happy and inspiring.”
Amina makes a living as an influencer with Instagram posts and YouTube videos, and also by selling hand-made items like tassel garlands, piñatas, and other party decors. Many of her customers use Amina’s work to decorate their homes.
She wanted her home to feel like spring all year round because it’s her favorite season.
“I wanted this place to feel like a living art installation.
“There’s something about what happens in spring – the holidays, the colors, that fresh feeling of happiness. It’s so inspiring for me.”
The walls in her living room are painted with a light purple color paired with a bold green Joybird sofa – a color that was totally out of her comfort zone, but it really paid off and the hit is her giant ‘flower wall’.
Her dedication and attention to details are so precise that her kitchen started out as basic black nook, and she covered all the cabinets in colorful washi tape while using a sheet of it to put a blue sky pattern on her dishwasher.
Amina said the kitchen was inspired by things she like as a kid, like Care Bears and My Little Pony, so she put all of her figurines above the cabinets.
Not missing a single detail, her bowls and cups are also in rainbow color! What a pretty sight!
She has a whimsical rug by Coco Carpets, atop that she has a glass coffee table shaped like a diamond, inside of which is a jar of colorful paper cranes. She has hundreds of the cranes all around her living room, including a bunch hanging from the ceiling.
“It kind of feels like there are birds flying around all the time.”
Amina’s biggest masterpiece is the wall which runs through her kitchen. Her husband, best friend and herself painted a 10-foot by 20-foot mural of a gradient rainbow with multicolor paint splatters on top.
“I knew I wanted for there to be a rainbow element in my home, at least one really strong rainbow statement. The project took two days to complete. I love it so much because I knew it would be great but I was still so scared to do it… But I followed my instinct and I knew it was gonna be good.”
The influencer had an obstacle in her bedroom. Although the room is bright, there was no natural light. So she decided to do a ‘crystal cave’ theme for the room.
“So I really wanted to try to embrace that there was no natural light because it’s normally a design challenge. It looks like a cave, so I’m gonna turn into a cave.”
A very colorful mural was painted above her bed that looks like the mouth of a cave, and the rest of the decor is inspired by crystal, marble, and agate.
Amina is not only an inspiring designer, she has a clever way to work around not having much storage space for her things, she uses a free wall to display her purses, which are shaped like rainbows, unicorns, and desserts. All of her shoes are stored above her closet, under an awning of tassels.
Despite the home being a bit girly, Amina says her husband is very supportive of what she’s done with the space.
“My husband is such a good sport. He loves it. It makes him happy too. He’s been doing this business with me, so it’s what our lives look like now.”
Amina’s vibe and quirkiness make me want to turn my own space into a unicorn paradise too, I’m so inspired by the mural in her bedroom!
