As the year 2018 comes to an end, Comic Fiesta 2018 closes the year with a bang. As Malaysia’s largest animation, comics and games convention. Comic Fiesta or CF for short returns to Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) for the second year running, showcasing an exciting content of anime, comics and games (ACG) to the Malaysian public as well as foreign attendees.
The convention ran from the 22nd to the 23rd of December 2018 and managed to attract an estimated 50,000 attendees. Now on its 17th year running, this years’ CF theme was The Fantasy Odyssey: Another Year of Captivating Anime, Comics and Games Fans.
As Malaysia’s biggest ACG convention, Comic Fiesta is known for bringing in famous guests from international circles, the event also promotes local talents, some of which include Higashi Kitty Band, Niruni, the instrumental band Your Highness who will serenade and entertain con-goers throughout the event.
Cheeming Boey meanwhile is an artist who is popular for his comic book series; “When I Was A Kid”, which has sold over 150,000 copies in Malaysia and Singapore.
On the beats and rhythm section this year sees the return of Kors K, a famed Japanese composer of numerous songs in popular rhythm games such as Beatmania IIDX, Pop’n Music, Dance Dance Revolution and Jubeat. Kors K is, by far, one of the most variated music artists inside BEMANI.
The program will also include Ryu☆, an enthusiastic Japanese DJ with an incredible repertoire of remixes for dance music like bubblegum dance, handz up and lately, EDM and dubstep.
YUC’e meanwhile is an EDM rising star who performed for the first time performing in Malaysia. YUC’e is the composer of the popular EDM track Future Cake which topped Spotify charts in 2017. Also the official remixer of anime Bakemonogatari, arcade card game Aikatsu, Japanese hip hop band m-flo and musician Dean Fujioka. This EDM rising star has previously performed in Japan, the United States and Singapore.
Our headline entertainer this year are MYTH & ROID, known for performing the opening and ending themes in popular anime titles such as Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World, Overlord and Saga of Tanya the Evil!
Comic Fiesta 2018 also hosted a range of activities such as butler and maid café by Le Petit Fox, video game competitions such as Tekken 7, Street Fighter 5, Dragonball Fighter Z with various stage games, panel talks and night concert performed by Kors K, Ryu☆ and YUC’e. The convention concluded with a high note by local performers and MYTH & ROID.
Speaking about his vision for Comic Fiesta 2018, Comic Fiesta Event Director, Mr Hew Shih Chien, said, “We were very much inspired to create a unique ACG culture that blends in with our Malaysian culture and our love for Japanese pop culture as well. Through Comic Fiesta, we hope to instill a culture where ACG can give a positive impact to our lives.”

Kazuya Masumoto, the founder and managing director of Studio TRIGGER and Mago, character designer and illustrator at Studio TRIGGER with assistant producer Taguchi Shoichiro is best known for being a part of Darling in the Franxx, Little WItch Academia, Kill la Kill and Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt among others!
The manga artist behind the mega popular slice of life comedy Gaikotsu Shotenin Honda-san makes an appearance at Comic Fiesta 2018! Signing sessions, an exclusive stage segment and a Gaikotsu Shotenin Honda-san exhibition will be held at the event so be sure not to miss this!
Nishii Terumi, a Japanese animator and character designer is most noteworthy for her contribution to JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Death Note, Gurren Lagann and Gintama among others.
Kristina N. is an illustrator living in California, who enjoys eating good food and being a hermit with her dog. Previously a concept and background artist, she is now a full-time webcomic artist running her own series on Webtoons.
Shilin is a Canadian artist and creator of digital paintings and manga/comics. She is best known for her two original comic series, CARCIPHONA and AMONGST US, which she writes, draws, and has arranged to be published in three languages. Outside of comic work, she occasionally does official art work for companies such as RIOT GAMES.
With a whooping 222,000 fans on Facebook, Taiwanese cosplayer HaneAme 雨波 creates waves wherever she is in the world with her truly impressive costume making and crafting skills.
With over 1.4 million subscribers on Youtube and 3 million fans on Facebook, Isis is known for her anime music covers and her game streams!
South Korean cosplayer Pion has inspired many from around the world gaining her fans from the United States, Portugal, Mexico, Guam, Indonesia and of course, Malaysia!
Other international cosplayers were also in attendance for Comic Fiesta. Most notably are, Aza Miyuko from Korea, Takami Mai from Japan, Mari Aikawa from Hong Kong, Chono Black from Taiwan and many more were in attendance.
