SHANGHAI : The Asia’s top female racer, Leona Chin secured yet another double second place finishes of the Renault Clip Cup China Series at the Shanghai International Circuit on 21st August 2016. This marks her fourth victory, following her other consecutive podium successes in different circuits – Zhuhai (China), Seoul (Korea) and Buriram (Thailand).
Leona showed a fierce cat-and-mouse chase with the championship leader Kenneth Lim. Being the only female competitor on the circuit, Leona had to deal with many aggressive male racers.
She boldly maintains composure despite running offtrack at least once. In Race 7 and 8, she even managed to cross the line first runner-up behind eventual winner Lim.
As Leona speaks up about her chances of winning the first spot eventually, she said , “Kenneth is a senior competitor who is top of his game and I respect him very much. I am happy with my performances today but for sure I can still improve, and am looking forward to the next race.”
Since a very young age of 16, Leona has been racing competitively in drifting, circuit racing, gymkhana, time attack, rallying and go -karting in some of the most challenging races in Asia. She is also known as Asia’s foremost female motorsport athlete with an impressive record of contesting in a male-dominated arena and had won against them.
Her never-say-die, friendly and gutsy traits have attracted leading brands and sponsors to collaborate commercially with her. Recently, Leona achieved worldwide recognition after appearing in the YouTube prank video “Fast & Furious Nerd Shocks Instructors” that was viewed 40 million times.
We surely hope to see more of Leona and her diverse talents. Oh did we forget to mention that she is also a stunner? Check out her pictures below!
