On Saturday, Walt Disney Studios production president Sean Bailey has announced the cast for the Aladdin remake.
The Egyptian-born Canadian actor Mena Massoud will star as the scrappy Aladdin.
Power Rangers actress Naomi Scott, whose mother is of Indian descent, will also star as Princess Jasmine.
And Will Smith will take on the role of the Genie. HA!
The original animated Aladdin was released in 1992 and included the late Robin Williams as the Genie. The remake directed by Guy Ritchie doesn’t yet have a release date.
Walt Disney Studies also announced its slate of films that will release from 2017-2019, which is filled with Disney classics and new films like “Avengers Infinity War,” “Incredibles 2,” “Mary Poppins Returns,” “Dumbo,” “Toy Story 4” and others.
