I’m pretty sure almost everyone of us have seen or watched beauty pageants before, be it local or international. Who wouldn’t like to see beautiful, confident women strutting their stuff on the runway?

If you can recall, all beauty pageant have a question-and-answer round, where each candidate must answer questions in front of the crowd on stage.

What they answer on the stage would effect their marks given by the judges. Beauty pageants are not only about beauty on the outside, but also beauty on the inside, not to mention smarts as well!

In the first Binibining Cebu pageant held on October 28, Maria Izobel Taguiam, 17, was representing the municipality of Tagobon.

Taguiam, who made it to the final leg of the competition, was up against 11 other candidates at the question-and-answer round. She was asked by the host if she had a boyfriend.

Though she did not win the coveted crown, her response to the host’s question is what won the hearts of netizens:

“Yes, but not a boyfriend but a girlfriend, because I believe love does not see gender and if you love that someone, go for it.”
