Mother Shares How Cigarette Smoke Sent Her Baby To The Critical Ward

Smoking has become a habit for many Malaysians as some find pleasure in smoking, while others use it as a way to cope with stress in daily life. It is not wrong for you to smoke since it’s your choice in life, but be mindful of your surroundings when you are about to light your cigarette.

For the longest time, smokers have been advised to stay away from children when they are smoking and even after they’re done with it as the residue of the smoke may potentially harm the children.

However, there are still some people who are ignorant of the health of the little ones and continue to smoke whenever and wherever they like.

It has gotten so bad to the point that parents are being labeled as stingy just because they refuse to let someone who has just smoked a cigarette earlier to carry their child, but in truth, the parents are just worried if their baby would get sick and contract a terrible disease.

Recently, a netizen, Huda Farid Irfan Ali took to Facebook to share her baby’s ordeal due to cigarette smoke. Her post has gone viral with over 8,000 shares!

She wrote,

“It is your own personal choice to smoke but please don’t carry any baby directly after smoking.”

“It’s the baby who has to suffer all the pain and the parents who have to stay up all night taking care of the baby. When the parents don’t allow you to carry their child, you call them arrogant. The smoke residue is very dangerous for children, do you understand?”

According to Huda, her baby was rushed to the hospital at 1.30 am and was sent to the partially critical ward and was given oxygen twice, on top of that, they took some blood samples from the baby and done an x-ray.

“Doctors confirm that there is a virus and bacterial infection caused by cigarette smoke that developed into high fever and difficulty in breathing, let this be a lesson.”

This is why it is important to be alert to your surrounding whenever you plan to smoke. Be mindful of others especially children, do not turn them into a secondhand smoker as their immune system is still weak! While smoking is bad for your health, maybe you can consider smoking lesser for your own sake.
