We are so used to seeing celebrities, famous, and rich people of the world buy expensive luxury goods. It’s not that they don’t want to save money and buy the cheaper alternative, it is because of the brand and the price of the accessory that will set their status quo!
Malaysia’s prime minister Najib Razak was called out for owning a luxury brand watch, Grisogono worth EUR750,000 (RM3.7 million) by Dato’ Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.
According to Mukhriz, before the matter was reported by Wall Street Journal (WSJ), he himself mentioned about the matter at the People’s Declaration talk held in Changlun, Kedah.
“I’ve made this revelation when we had the People’s Declaration talk recently, held in Changlun, where I mentioned about the excessive spending, (Najib) bought a Grisogono watch, that brand easily costs hundreds of thousands of Euros, and it was reported in Wall Street Journal too.”
Mukhriz also claimed that the luxury watch was purchased using Najib’s credit card, that means the money was from SRC International (a subsidiary of 1MDB), and the money originated from the Pension Trust Fund (KWAP).
“If the credit card was used just as mentioned in WSJ’s report, this means that Dato Seri Najib’s credit card is under SRC International, so it’s KWAP money. Money from the Pension Trust Fund spent for personal expenses.”
“SRC (SRC International) was originally (subsidiary) 1MDB, and 1MDB was later handed over to the Ministry of Finance, and from that RM4 billion was taken out from the Pension Trust Fund (KWAP), guaranteed by the government.”
So is Najib using the nation’s money for his own personal pleasure? What do you think? Share your thoughts with us!
