MELAKA: Ignorant Persona Driver Makes Illegal U-Turn, Leaves Victim In A Twisted Fate

Drivers and motorcyclist are constantly reminded to stay alert on the road to avoid any unwanted accidents.

Unfortunately, even with all these reminders, road users are still ignorant and think that the road belongs to them! Because of people like this, innocent people are dragged into accidents.

On October 10, 2017, a student in Institut Kemahiran MARA (IKM), Jasin, who was riding a motorcycle was involved in an awful accident when he collided with a Proton Persona making an illegal U-turn.

Photos of the aftermath were posted on Facebook and it has gone viral ever since.

The 19-year-old victim, a third-year Electrical Wiring student, who was clad in a black shirt was reported to be on his way to a company training site at the Melaka International Trade Center (MITC), Ayer Keroh, from his home in Kampung Chenderah.

It was learned that the collision occurred in Kilometer 25.5 Jalan Jasin-Bemban at around 8.10 am.

Jasin District Police Chief Superintendent Arshad Abu said the initial investigation found that the Proton Persona driven by a 25-year-old woman was coming from Taman Air Merbau towards the Air Merbau Rural Clinic.

“Upon arriving in front of the Sri Merbau Rural Clinic, the Proton Persona driver stopped her vehicle on the shoulder of the road. The woman checked to see if there was any other vehicle behind her before making a U-turn to the Air Merbau Rural Clinic which was on the right side of the road.

“However, during her attempt to U-turn, the Proton Persona was hit by the teenager riding a Honda C70.”

Arshad said that the collision caused the teenager’s left leg to dislocate and ended up beside his shoulder. The teen can be seen trying to fight the pain while he’s rushed to Melaka Hospital for further treatment while the driver of the Proton Persona did not suffer any injuries.

“The case is being investigated in accordance with Rule 13 LN 166/59 which means ‘making a U-turn at a non-permitted place, following this accident we ask witnesses to come forward to assist in the investigation.”

This is why you should never make any illegal turns on roads! Stick to the road rules! We pray for the teen’s speedy recovery and that the woman will get the justice she deserved.
