We always thought that Japan was a safe country to travel to and probably stay for work or studies, but what happened to these sisters may just prove that Japan is just as dangerous as other countries.
The sisters, Chen Baolan, 25, and Chen Baozhen, 22, went missing from their apartment in Yokohama on June 6th. The Chinese officials were notified last Friday that the bodies of the missing women had been found in Hadano late Thursday night.
It was reported that a married man in his 30s, has been arrested in connection to the crime as he was found having an affair with one of the sisters.
The suspect was seen on CCTV surveillance footage entering the women’s apartment in Naka Ward, Nagoya on June 6 and left the following day carrying bags.
The father of the victims, surnamed Chen, said his daughters had been living in Japan for years, and he had a video call via WeChat chatting application the night before they disappeared.
His daughters told him that they had just returned from a trip to Yokohama with friends and he told them he had sent them some food via mail.
“Now there’s nobody there to sign the parcel. My girls will never have the opportunity to taste hometown food sent by parents.”
According to the autopsy report, both women died from strangulation and stuffed naked inside suitcases and abandoned in a mountain forest near Tokyo.
Shanghaiist reports that the grisly murders became a major topic of conversation on Chinese social media with many netizens writing in that Japan may seem safe from the outside, the brutal murder of the sisters had revealed “its true colors” as a country full of “deviants”.
We would like to express our deepest condolences to the family of Chen Baolan and Chen Baozhen, our prayers are with you at this difficult moment. We hope you find solace in their passing soon, and may justice bring appropriate punishment to the suspect!
