FINALLY IKEA, FINALLY.
We’ve all been wondering why Ikea has not had an online store yet, it’s much more convenient in fact with the items being delivered to your doorstep instead of having to go there. But of course, for some people, furniture are a must to be seen with their own eyes before purchasing.
But some of us still prefer the online way of purchasing, so for online shoppers – Ikea will be launching it soon next year to meet increasing demand for it’s products.
IKEA Southeast Asia managing director Christian Rojkjaer mentioned that the e-commerce website would be much easier for customers to access and make purchase of the company’s product range. He said in a statement quoted by Bernama,
“We are planning to launch the e-commerce service in Singapore in the next two weeks, and introduce it in Malaysia next year.”
It’s not a new thing actually, just that it has not been launched in Malaysia but countries like Australia has it since November 2016. Even IKEA Japan rolled out their online store this year, April. You can checkout their websites to get an idea of how the website looks like. Here’s the Japan online store website!
Ikea Penang will be the 4th IKEA store in Malaysia, following Damansara, Cheras and Johor Bahru. Malaysians surely love IKEA especially for their meatballs, right? The Penang branch is expected to be open in the 1st quarter of 2019! YAY, new place to go in Penang.
The Ikea company invested up to 600 million for IKEA Penang branch, according to Rojkjaer. Woah! There will be 450 jobs and various spin-off business opportunities for suppliers too!
