Here’s some advice from these owners of Insta-famous pets,

1. Know your brand

You need to choose a few descriptive words and phrases for your pet’s “brand”. Is your pet a troublemaker? Curious and friendly? Silly or a natural performer? Just be sure the photos posted are similar themed.

2. Don’t trade free products for postings

You can only start making money from your pet’s account once you have reached up to 20,000 followers at least. Many smaller accounts will be approached by brands that want to giveaway free products in exchange for posting, don’t take it just yet! Though its really tempting to get free gifts, but it doesn’t look good. If a multinational company looks at your account, and see’s that you worked for free, they will expect you to work their products for free too!

3. Post photos regularly with hashtags

Plan your posting schedule, It could be once a day, or 3 times a week. Plan it out depending on how much your followers want to see. Owner of Nalacat says that she posts two to three posts a day. When you have started posting, make sure you add in some hashtags in the comment section so people using Instagram Discover feature can find your account easily. Checkout other pet accounts for information of hashtags used.

4. Make sure you love doing what you do

This can be a full-time job that makes full-time money but if you’re not having a good time doing it, it’s so not worth it. You must love taking pictures of your pets and spending time with them. This will help motivate you to get it done even when you don’t feel like it.
