A Facebook user by the name of Chee Sun Lau had recently posted shocking video and images of what he claims to be tea leaves with artificial colouring, that contains minerals that would be dangerous if consumed.
He alleges that certain eateries and Mamak stalls had resorted to using these dangerous tea leaves in order to increase profits. Netizens have noted that many irresponsible eateries have started using similar substances as early as 2004, as it has much better colour and cheaper compared normal tea leaves.
There are no ways to verify those claims, however.
In his post, Chee attached images and a video comparing normal tea leaves and the artificial tea, and how they would react to water.
Chee urges anyone who discovered any restaurants using this dangerous tea, to report them to the Health Ministry immediately before they could do any further harm.
He also reminded netizens of their rights as consumers, and with our combined strength we can remind irresponsible eateries that we will not put up with business practices that put profits over the health of customers.
