18th March, a Malaysian lady who named Yen Ling had rescued a dog which was moaning in pain and didn’t move for at least three days by the roadside.
As the dog was having a big tummy, Yen Ling initially suspected that the dog was pregnant and sent her to the nearby veterinary clinic at midnight. After the blood test and X-ray came out, the vet had confirmed that the dog wasn’t pregnant but was having a serious health problem which is heart enlargement. It makes the fluid in her body backflow to her stomach and making her stomach swollen like as if she was pregnant.
What makes Yen Ling heartbroken is, the dog has lost her right eyeball without knowing the reason whether it was infected with viruses or being abused. There are also maggots which caused the dog’s right ear, as well as her neck, that was beginning to rot.
According to the videos taken by Yen Ling, you can clearly hear that the dog was having difficulty to breathe normally due to the severe pain. The dog was very weak as she was dehydrated for days. Hence, the vet had given her the painkiller and drips for her hydration.
As we know, the consultation fees for midnight service are doubled from the standard price and the treatment fees of this veterinary clinic were much higher than the normal clinics. Yen Ling was being advised to send the dog to another veterinary clinic which charged cheaper for the consultation and treatment fees. However, Yen Ling could not stand to move the dog all the way from Penang to Butterworth, because the dog was in great pain.
Yen Ling has paid RM 700 upfront for the dog’s treatment and consultation fees. However, she couldn’t afford to pay more for the dog’s stay. Thus, Yen Ling had posted a fund-raising status for this poor dog.
