Dogs: first going to a clinic autonomously, second world domination. And that’s the world I want to live in. ❤️
Recently, a golden retriever became everybody’s focal point in Thailand because this good boy walked himself to the veterinarian after accidentally hurting his eye.
According to the book The Intelligence of Dogs written by neuropsychologist Dr. Stanley Coren, golden retrievers are the fourth most intelligent breed and they are normally bred as hunting companions, human guide dogs and assistance of search-and-rescue operations. But little we know that their intelligence precedes our expectation—to the extent that they can recognize our societal institutions and understand their purpose. Doggo world domination might just come true, guys.
Thai News Agency reports that this golden retriever who lived at the outskirt of Bangkok pawed his way to veterinary Petto Street clinic located in Pathum Thani.
The dog’s left eye was covered in blood and the skin around it was marred. He was quickly attended by Siramanee Wongpitayadisai, the veterinarian on duty at the time.
Siramanee patched up its eye and put a cone on the dog’s head to prevent him from scratching the wounded area.
The vet nicknamed the dog as ‘Den’, which can be translated from Thai into golden retriever in short.
The kind vet then tried to locate his owner because she knew that the dog was too tame to be a stray dog. In true Thai style, she plopped the dog on her motorcycle and rode around the neighborhood in hope to find his worried owner.
She was also hoping the dog would get excited as she rode around the area so that she would know where he lived. Sadly, no one recognized the handsome fur nor he reacted preemptively in the ride.
But that didn’t stop Siramanee from trying. She created a Facebook post as a lost notice in search for his owner. The post writes:
“While I was busy with a customer, I found Den standing outside the clinic, smiling, with his face covered in blood. I thought the owner had taken him here, but no one showed up after the dog,
“We took him in and performed a checkup. His left eyelid was torn.
“Please share this post. We want him to meet his owner. We feel so sorry for him.”
After about a week, good news surfaced! Social media work like wonders and it had reconnected the golden retriever back to his owner. The owner said the dog got out of the house unexpectedly and must have gotten hurt while he was enjoying his escape.
This little doggy’s journey was a national sensation as it garnered massive attention from various media such as Thai TV and TNA. The news praised the intelligent dog for taking himself to the vet.
Is your pet equally smart as this golden retriever or they are just a cute freeloader at home? Either way, we are glad that the golden retriever has reunited with his owner.
