Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin should rejoin Umno and strengthen the largest Malay party, said Umno Member of Parliament (MP) Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz.
According to Nazri, all UMNO members and leaders should be open and accept Muhyiddin to rejoin the party.
He said that with Muhyiddin’s return to UMNO, many problems could be resolved including the segregation of seats between UMNO and PAS.
“Muhyiddin did not leave us (UMNO) but was sacked and if he returns, his contribution would be immense for bringing back the prime minister’s position to UMNO.
“The question of what happens to the (current) UMNO president should not arise because what’s important is the party, we have to accept it with open arms,” he told Astro AWANI.
Nazri suggested that if Muhyiddin returned to UMNO, the party’s presidential position should also be handed over to the Pagoh MP.
He argues that traditionally the prime minister is the president of UMNO and that party leaders and members should accept it openly.
“We as the Malays must always be ready to seek forgiveness and to forgive for the cause of religion, race and country.
“We have to hand over the post of UMNO president to him (Muhyiddin) because he does not return empty handed but with the prime minister’s post. We have to accept, make a sacrifice and accept it openly.
“I am a Malay and to me, there is no sacrifice that we are unable to make for the sake of our religion, race and nation,” he said.
Nazri was commenting on the views of some who felt that the Perikatan Nasional (PN) would have trouble resolving the seat allocation issue.
He said that only Muhyiddin’s participation in UMNO would solve the problem.
“It is up to him whether he wants to go in alone or bring all the Bersatu MPs along with him, UMNO must welcome them,” he said.

Tajuddin to Muhyiddin: Return to Umno
mno supreme council member Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said that he would welcome Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin should the latter return to the party.
He said it would be better if all the Umno leaders who left the party previously were to rejoin and continue with the struggle of the party.
“I have said it before, urging him (Muhyiddin) to return to Umno. It will solve issues of having to discuss with other parties,” he said today.
He was asked to comment on a statement by Umno deputy president Datuk Mohamad Hasan to an online portal urging the Prime Minister who is also Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president to return to Umno.
