Beware : Viral Malaysian FB Post Warns About A Scam Being Run By A Pregnant Indian Lady At KLCC – New Scam Modus Operandi

Lee Wen Lin, in her Facebook post, said she was approached at a lift in Suria KLCC by the woman who claimed that she was robbed in a car park and that she was bleeding internally and in pain.

“I lent her my phone so that she could call her husband and also 999.

“She called, with hands shaking and tears rolling. She said her husband is not picking up,” she wrote, adding that the lady told her 999 said she needed to go to hospital in a private car.

“I volunteered to help her call a Grab to a nearby hospital. She said she needs to go to Subang Jaya Medical Centre because that is her regular hospital,” Lee said, adding that the woman insisted on cash payment for the GrabTaxi, on the pretext that she did not want to stain the car with the blood from her clothes.

Lee said that before the woman boarded the taxi, she gave her RM120 out of goodwill to cover the cab fare and hospital registration.

“Within five minutes after the taxi left, the journey ended. The taxi cost was just RM1, after looking at the Grab receipt that I (received).

“Looking back at my call logs, I realised 999 never actually answered her call. She was actually pretending to talk over the phone,” she wrote.

Lee claimed that this might be a new modus operandi that is used by scammers to con people.

“Beware of pregnant lady asking for money. I should have brought her to the security office or asked for help from the nearby crowd or called 999 myself,” she added.

I would like to bring to your attention a scam incident that happened to me in KLCC today

1. An anxious pregnant Indian lady approached me at the lift in KLCC and said she was robbed in the car park and her stomach was really in pain (she said she was bleeding inside, and was about to deliver).

2. I borrowed her my phone so that she could call her husband and also emergency 999. She called, with hands shaking and tears rolling. She said her husband is not picking up – must be flying a plane now (he is a pilot). According to her, 999 replied her that she need to go to hospital on a private car. She was shivering and weeping, saying no one is helping her, including the KLCC security.

3. I voluntered to help her call a Grab to nearby hospital. She said she need to go to Subang Jaya Medical Centre because thats her laboring hospital. Other hospital or clinic wont accept her.

4. I wanted to order a GrabCar and use GrabPay but she insisted on using GrabTaxi with cash payment method because leather seats will not get stained by her blood on her clothes.

5. Before boarding the taxi, she asked for some money to cover her expenses. The Grab app estimated between RM50-RM80 so I gave her RM120 out of goodwill.
