More than a dozen police cars and a police arrest truck – referred to as a Black Maria – have been spotted outside the home of former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak.
According to an officer stationed at the intersection to Najib’s house, all the police personnel from the vehicles are now inside the premises.
The media have been prevented from approaching the former premier’s house.
A police van is a type of vehicle operated by police forces. Police vans are usually employed for the transportation of prisoners inside a specially adapted cell in the vehicle, or for the rapid transportation of a number of officers to an incident.
Police deployed a 10-vehicle team to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s private residence in Taman Duta here tonight.
A police source said investigators also went to several other locations including two units in the exclusive Pavilion Tower condominium linked to Najib’s family.
However, it is not clear if they took any documents from Najib’s home in Taman Duta.
Najib and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, have been barred from leaving the country on suspicion of crimes.
Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad previously said he expects to charge Najib over the 1Malaysia Development scandal soon.
Several vehicles were seen leaving the residence of former prime minister Najib Razak on Langgak Duta, Taman Duta, tonight.
It is not immediately clear who were in the vehicles.
Two police outriders and patrol car were seen accompanying a silver Toyota Vellfire out of Najib’s residence around 8.20pm.
The police escorts came a couple of hours after a one-tonne lorry had gone to the house.
It is unsure what had been loaded unto the lorry, which was covered by a blue canvas.
