There is a growing trend among Chinese men, to buy silicon dolls and developing a human-like relationship with them, some treating them as girlfriends or even children.
According to People’s Daily Online via Next Shark, men have even been spotted taking their dolls in public, on dates to the movies and the park.
One man, a stock trader in Beijing, 36-year-old Zhang Fan, sees his doll as a female version of himself. “She is me as a female. Not some other woman.” Zhang told local media. He likes dressing her up in different outfits and taking photos with her in public.
Surprisingly Zhang’s parents approved of their son’s relationship with the doll, although they still insist that he should get married. Zhang sees it differently however – after two failed relationships, he concluded that a marriage would be too expensive.
Another man, 29-year-old Song Bo, put thoughts of a marriage and having children, after being diagnosed with a growing cyst in his head. He keeps his doll and treat it as if it were his own daughter instead.
Even more shocking, some doll owners have claimed that having a doll has helped them find a real-life partner. 58-year-old Li Chen said that he is about to marry a 24-year-old woman since his divorce 12 years ago. He said his doll gave him the confidence to get himself to go out and find love.
