Starting from January 2019 onwards, entertainment outlets (bars and clubs) in Kuala Lumpur will no longer be allowed to operate after 1am.
According to the Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samid, this new regulation will be strictly enforced on January 2019.
However, there are some exceptions will be made for certain entertainment outlets which caters to foreign tourists. These outlets would be allowed to operate till 5am.
“We will have to check again on these special permission outlets. We don’t want it to be abused, especially complaints from the public,” he said.
Recently, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has proposed to shorten the operation hours of entertainment outlets in the city centre.
Kuala Lumpur Mayor DatuK Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan said the proposal made was to limit the operation hours for entertainment outlets within the city centre until 1am
“Most of these entertainment premises that operate after hours are frequented by locals, not foreigners.
“Therefore only a select few entertainment outlets that are frequented by tourists would be allowed to operate until 5am,” he said.
