Juan Mata has become the hero of Old Trafford after slotting home at the 54th minute to secure a victory for The Red Devils and book a spot in the last eight of the EFL Cup.
The Spaniard also received the man of the match award for his outstanding performance against Manchester City but Mata claims that it was United’s overall team performance that contributes to the victory.
“From the first minute until the last we felt everything on the pitch.”
“We knew we had to be strong in our minds to face this game and I think we were that. We showed today we were still competing.”
“I think it was very important to win after the defeat we had in London. It was massive game for us, a derby and its always difficult to play against Manchester City as they play very good football. We gave one hundred percent and we won today.”
“Every time you score an important goal its obviously a great feeling. I think we started very well in the second half, playing good football and creating chances and thats why we scored.”
“We need to leave everything on the pitch every single game to win. Its not easy to play against any team. The feeling today is happiness but tomorrow we’ll start thinking about the next game.” Juan Mata said.
