In July 2006, Zahid Hamidi Punched & Broke A 41-Year-Old Businessman Nose For Dating His Daughter – Threatened To Put Him In A Gunny Sack & Bury Him

Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has exhausted all legal avenues to stop a suit against him from being heard in court.

The Federal court this morning dismissed the home minister’s application for leave to appeal against the lower courts’ decision that the suit should go to trial.

The suit was filed by businessman Amir Bazli Abdullah against Ahmad Zahid for allegedly punching him in the face on Jan 16, 2006 at the Country Heights recreational club in Kajang, Selangor.

Amir Bazli suffered a nasal bone fracture and a swollen eye. A five-man Court of Appeal bench led by judge Tan Sri Md Raus Sharif said the law was settled.

The businessman was brought to a recreation club at Country Heights, Kajang, where his lover’s father punched him so hard that it broke his nose. Thereafter the thuggish deputy minister’s men joined in the fun and whacked him till kingdom comes. The businessman was later revealed to be Amir Bazli Abdullah, while his supposedly lover is none other than Nurul Hidayah Ahmad Zahid.

Amir claimed that he was attacked because he had a romantic relationship with Zahid’s daughter. He said several men took him from a petrol station to Zahid’s home, where the minister and others hit him with hard objects.

“I was beaten badly,” he said. “Until today, my left eye is not fully functional. I even have difficulty opening my eye in the morning after all these years.

“They beat me with rocks and other objects. They even threatened to put me in a gunny sack and bury me.”

Amir is claiming the cost of his medical treatment as well as special, general, exemplary and aggravated damages.

Victim Amir Bazil wants to withdraw the settlement

Datuk Seri Ahmad Zaid Hamidi’s legal woes are set to continue after businessman Amir Bazli Abdullah made it known that he will nullify the mediation exercise last week which saw his assault suit against the Home minister withdrawn.

Amir Bazli’s counsel Karpal Singh says his client felt intimidated. Karpal said that based on this, they have now decided to cancel whatever transpired between Amir Bazli and Ahmad Zahid in the presence of the mediator.

“Ahmad Zahid did not come to the court on that day as an ordinary litigant but as a minister. He was escorted by police outriders and was accompanied by security personnel and about 30 supporters. All these were elements of intimidation,” he said.

The Malaysian Insider says their out-of-court mediation might be flawed

Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s legal woes may not be over as the mediation process which resulted in an assault case against him being settled out of court may be flawed.

Judiciary sources familiar with mediation procedures said it was strange for Sessions Court Judge Rohani Ismail to be the referee without the presence of lawyers.

Questions are now being raised as to who initiated the mediation and how the matter was referred so soon after a Federal Court had held the suit must go to trial before a High Court. Hearing at the High Court was scheduled for Aug 27.

Victim’s lawyer, Karpal Singh, says AG should charge Zahid Hamidi with assault and attempted murder

Veteran lawyer and Bukit Gelugor MP Karpal Singh has urged the attorney-general (AG) to charge Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi with assault and battery, and attempted murder of his client, businessman Amir Bazli Abdullah, in 2006.

“If you look at the nature of Amir Bazli Abdullah’s injuries and the police report lodged against Zahid, one is left wondering why no prosecution was done. These are very serious injuries and this is a serious matter.
