Early Thursday, it was reported that a lorry had skidded off a slope near Bukit Ular, off Paitan, Beluran at about 7.30am. The lorry that was transporting palm oil fertiliser was driven by 59-year-old, Ahmad [email protected]
There were another two passengers in the vehicle at that time, Jeprii Azis, 35 and Rosli Ruma, 34.
Unfortunately, Mado did not make it as he was pinned to his seat during the accident. When his lorry had overturned on its side, both passengers also sustained injuries to their legs. It was reported that Jeprii had sustained broken legs while Rosli broke his thigh.
It appears that the Kinabatangan fire and rescue station operation had received a distress call at about 7.51am, and only after two long hours they managed to arrive at the accident site. The reason behind this was because the location was said to be 151km away.
By the time the rescue arrived, two of the passengers was already sent to the district hospital by passersby. It is believed that the vehicle had skidded when the driver lost control of the lorry while coming down from a hilly section. Mado was announced dead at site by the rescue team.
It was also noted that the trailer lorry was delivering the fertiliser to the IOI Pamol Sugut plantation.
