It is believed that the elderly man has been in a heated argument with his friend when he fell and hit a restaurant table.
Petaling Jaya District police chief ACP Md Zani Che Din said the restaurant owner immediately called for an ambulance when the man injured his head.
As paramedics were treating his injury, things took an unexpected turn when the suspect pulled out a pistol and started looking for the friend he was arguing with.
ACP Zani said in a statement on August 8,
“This caused panic among the members of the public, who immediately called police through the emergency line.”
Apparently, checks found that the man was licensed to carry the gun, however, he will still be investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation using a firearm.
Fortunately, the whole incident that took place at 6 pm was recorded on CCTV surveillance footage and police have confirmed that the man had indeed fallen and hit his head on his own.
No shooting took place at the scene as initially rumoured by some social media users.
The suspect was taken to University Malaya Medical Center (PPUM) to get treated for his injury after the incident while police were recording the man’s friend’s conversation on the scene.
Lucky no one was hurt during the scuffle, we pray for the man’s recovery and that he would learn his lesson never to let alcohol get the better of him. Drink responsibly and do not drink and drive, guys!
