Jealousy is a dangerous emotion as it has led a man to take the life of his wife and the mother of his child on Tuesday morning, August 28.
Neighbours of the couple at the Taman Merbau Indah low-cost flats in Butterworth told NST that this was the first time such a brutal murder had happened in the flats and they were not aware of the incident until much later.
A resident, who only wanted to be known as Asma, in her 30s, said it was raining heavily at that time and most of the residents were asleep.
She added that she did not personally know the couple but the incident had upset her because she was told it was a safe neighbourhood when she first moved in. She said,
“Now I am scared.”
A motorcycle repair shop owner, who declined to be named, said he only got to know about the incident through a WhatsApp message. He told NST,
” I have been doing business here for years now and this is the first time I heard of such a case. We are all surprised as this neighbourhood has been relatively peaceful all along.”
It was earlier reported that lorry driver, suspecting his wife of infidelity, strangled and stabbed her to death at their flat unit early Tuesday morning.
The 25-year-old then allegedly left the house with their 4-year-old daughter and only returned home late at night.
He then lodged a report, informing the police that he found his wife dead when he returned home at about 10 pm.
We would like to extend our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
