Sadly, stealing parking spaces or ‘chup’ parking spaces are common in Malaysia, and only recently, we found out that ‘reserving’ a parking spot by standing in it is illegal under the Road Transport Act!
Just yesterday, October 23, two drivers got into an altercation after one of them stole a parking spot from another.
According to netizen, Kevin Fong, who took to a Facebook group to lament about his encounter yesterday at around 3 pm, he was in Mid Valley’s parking lot level P1 with a friend driving a red Audi.
They have signaled and put their car into reverse to enter a parking spot when a silver Hyundai, driven by two middle-eastern women behind them stole their spot.
The passenger of the red Audi immediately got down and started filming the incident. That was when one of the women (dress in red) walked over and snatched his phone away while telling him to stop recording.
Fong and his friend later lodged a police report against the two women in Brickfields police station. In the report, it is stated that the woman who snatched the phone actually threw it on the ground, resulting in damage. Also, the woman allegedly scratched one of the men in the arm, and also the red Audi.
What’s more, the road tax on the silver Hyundai has expired since June 8, 2018, to be driving around with an expired road tax is another offence!
