This is so sad and scary!
The headless body of a woman was found in a longhouse in Roban in Saratok, Sarawak on Wednesday, July 25.
According to Saratok District police chief DSP Mordani Tanin, police rushed to the scene after receiving information from villagers at about 3 pm about the murder case.
It was reported that the police found the headless body of 75-year-old Gelingi Ngaing lying on the ground in a pool of blood in the living room of the Lumpuh Bratong Baru Roban longhouse.
“Following investigations at the scene, the police found two parang (machetes), an axe, and a sharpening stone at the laundry area opposite the entrance of the longhouse, believed to be used by the suspect to behead the victim.”
The police also discovered skeletal remains of the victim’s skull about three metres away from where they found the weapons. It is believed that the suspect had murdered the victim and ran away with the woman’s severed head on a motorcycle.
Mordani added police investigations led to the discovery of the victim’s severed head later, which was found burnt together with a motorcycle.
The police subsequently detained a 57-year-old man in connection with the murder case.
A statement by the victim’s son-in-law revealed that the elderly woman was resting in the living room during the 2.30 pm incident when the suspect, Bandang Langu, approached her and attacked her using the parang.
Bandang is believed to be mentally unstable, he has confessed to killing the woman and was arrested to assist police investigations into the case.
Meanwhile, the victim’s body was taken to Sibu Hospital for a postmortem.
