Malaysian Police Officer Fires At Friends After Late Drinking Session

A late night drinking session among a group of men almost ended in tragedy when a policeman pulled out his service revolver and shot his friend in the rear following an argument.

City police chief Comm Datuk Amar Singh said the incident happened at 5 am on July 19, at Sri Rampai in Setapak, the policeman attached to the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is believed to have been intoxicated and was involved in an argument with 2 of his friends in a restaurant.

“The suspect, believed to be a detective in his 30s with the rank of corporal, opened fire five times, with one shot hitting his friend in the buttocks.”

Police later arrested the officer and his friend.

“He has been arrested and his gun seized. He is being investigated for discharging a firearm.”

The police are also looking into to confirmation of whether or not he was intoxicated.
