Man Loses A Finger During Late-Night ‘Yumcha’ In A Kopitiam After A Fight Broke Out

Late-night yumcha (supper/hangout) is supposed to be very laid back and relaxed, it is a term Malaysians use to ajak (invite) our friends out. Most of the time, we yumcha at mamak or kopitiam (coffee shop), wherever that is open till wee hours in the morning.

Never would we thought that it will come to this one day – a fight breaking out during late-night supper, on top of that, losing a finger!

A 45-year-old Perlis man was reportedly having a drink with a friend at an eatery at Jalan Sarawak when they began to engage in a heated argument at 1.50 am, on August 8.

It is learned that the other man, aged 44, suddenly produced a knife and slashed the victim repeatedly, severing one finger, severely injuring another on his left hand and causing injuries to his head.

Kangar police chief Superintendent Wari Kiew said,

“Our initial investigation showed that the duo had a misunderstanding over a personal matter before the argument escalated into a fight.

“The knife used by the suspect in the fight is believed to have been obtained from his car.”

Both the victim and the suspect were later treated at Tuanku Fauziah Hospital .
