“Nazri’s Son Rumoured Was Behind the Murder of Darren Kang Tien Hua” In 2004 ?

And here we have the rumored murderer of Darren Kang with a few of his friends, just look at the really thuggish one on the far left.

Wow, you learn something new everyday. Got an interesting tip few days ago claiming that the son of minister Nazri was involved in the murder of Sheffield University law student Darren Kang Tien Hua. It was not looked into, then a second tip came in with the same accusation a few days later with the added claim that witness came forward the night of the killing but later stop talking after they realize who the murder was related to.

So I searched news articles from Malaysia in 2004 and what you know, the son of a Malaysian minster was on the murder scene of Darren Kang. The Star article did not mention the minster by name but the article does seem to backup the tipsters.

Apparently Nazri’s son was the main culprit behind the savage killing of Darren, he was the ring leader of the gang of thugs that murdered the law student. Needless to say but there was a big cover up and they pinned the crime on a few Thai immigrant workers. The only interesting thing was reported in the article in The Star was that a son of a minister saw the murder of Darren Kang and was question by the police.

A tipster said the group of men that teased Darren about how he was courting his girlfriend was lead by the son of the minister. According to the The Star article, the minister’s “son was having supper with seven others when Darren, 23, was allegedly assaulted by restaurant workers armed with steel chairs, sticks and iron rods.” A tipster said the restaurant workers were the ones that try to stop the attack. And it was the ministers son and several of his friends were the attackers. Darren Kang was murdered after he confronted one of the man asking him why the group had behaved as they did:

Son of minister saw attack on law student

KUALA LUMPUR: The 22-year-old son of a minister is among several customers the police want to interview in connection with the death of Darren Kang Tien Hua, who died after being assaulted by at least 15 people in Desa Sri Hartamas on Monday.

City police chief Deputy Comm Mustafa Abdullah said the minister’s son was at the scene of the crime and would be called to assist in investigations.

“We have received different accounts of the incident from witnesses and we will call everyone in for questioning, including the minister’s son, to tell us what they saw,” DCP Mustafa said here yesterday.

The minister said: “ I don’t know anything about it, you have to ask the police about this. They are the ones handling it.”

His son was having supper with seven others when Darren, 23, was allegedly assaulted by restaurant workers armed with steel chairs, sticks and iron rods.

Two days later, police picked up 11 restaurant workers – 10 Thais and a local.

In the 3.30am incident, Darren, a Sheffield University student, back on holidays, died after he was beaten up by a group of men whom he confronted after they teased him over a show of affection by his fiancee.

DCP Mustafa said police were looking for at least four customers to help in the probe.

“The 11 are the main suspects in this case.

“We learnt that Darren was involved in a scuffle with several customers earlier, but the scuffle was broken up by other customers,” he said.

DCP Mustafa said police were investigating if the customers involved in the scuffle with Darren were also involved in the fight.

Who is the minister? It took great courage for The Star to print the article above, sure they omitted the minister’s name and try their best not to link son with the murder. But readers of The Star know it has a tendency of omitting information that may be embarrassing to Minister Nazri. Here is the news report from The Star a day after the murder:

Law student assaulted and killed in front of fiancee

KUALA LUMPUR: A law student died after he was beaten up by a group of men who he had confronted for teasing him about how he was courting his girlfriend near a restaurant in Desa Seri Hartamas here.

Darren Kang Tien Hua, 23, a second year student at Sheffield University in England, was walking with his fiancee, Goh Win See, 24, towards Warung Uncle Don when the incident occurred at 3.30am yesterday.

Goh, when met at the University Malaya Medical Centre mortuary, said they had left a nearby nightspot and decided to have supper at the restaurant.

Kang: Was studying law at Sheffield University.

She said that as they passed by a group of people seated at some tables outside the restaurant, some of them seemed to be making fun of Kang.

“I was ahead of Darren as we walked to the restaurant. When I turned back to ask him to hurry up, he said that if I wanted him to catch up, I should say that I loved him. When I said that I did, several of the men seemed to laugh at Darren and passing comments among them,” Goh said.

“This agitated Darren who then confronted one of them, asking them why the group had behaved in such a way,” she said, adding she pleaded with Kang not to approach the men.

“One of them got up from his seat and began swearing at Darren with several others joining in. Within seconds, four of them cornered Darren and began kicking and punching him repeatedly.

“Others used sticks and the rest used plastic chairs to hit Darren,” Goh said, adding that one of them even hit Darren with an iron rod.

When the shopowner and staff members intervened, the group fled on motorcycles. Goh said she had called the police.

She said that with the help of some members of the public, Kang was taken to the Damansara Utama Specialist Centre where he was pronounced dead upon arrival at 4.15am.

His body was then taken to the UMMC where Goh lodged a police report at the police beat base there.

She said she was living together with Kang in Sheffield and was working as a customer service representative at an insurance company there.

“In fact, we had already bought the air tickets to return to England just earlier yesterday,” said Goh, adding they had returned to Malaysia on June 7 and were to leave on July 29.

Goh said that they were planning to get married once Kang finished his studies next year.

“We have known each other since we were in secondary school,” she said, adding that Kang was a caring and jovial person.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Zul Hasnan Najib Baharudin said 11 people, including foreigners, were believed to be directly involved in the assault.

“We have picked up several people including the shopowner and staff members for questioning and have classified the case as murder,” ACP Zul Hasnan said, adding that umbrellas, iron rods and sticks, believed to have been used in the assault, were recovered from the scene.

ACP Zul Hasnan urged those who witnessed the incident to contact the district police headquarters at 03-22742222 or the nearest police station.

When the shopowner and staff members intervened, the group fled on motorcycles. And Guess who got into trouble?

NAZRI’S SON ACCUSED OF BEATING UP SECURITY GUARD: ANOTHER DARREN KANG TYPE OF COVER-UP?

Nazri’s son accused of beating up security guard: Another Darren Kang type of cover-up?
It looks like another super UMNO cover-up is on the way and this time it involves the son of Nazri Aziz, the minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.

Nazri’s son, Mohamad Nedim Mohd Nazri Aziz, allegedly drove up to a condominium in upmarket Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur in his Porsche tailed by his bodyguard in a luxury MPV and got involved in a fight with the building’s security supervisor.

This is not the first time a violent encounter involving a son of Nazri’s has taken place. In 2004, a 23-year-old law student Darren Kang was beaten to death allegedly by a group of workers at a restaurant in the Desa Sri Hartamas area, which is close by to Mont Kiara, after a spat involving Nazri’s son. The workers – 10 Thais and one Malaysian – were arrested. Nazri’s son was given the all-clear after questioning by the police.

“At this point in time, to be fair to all parties, there must be a thorough probe. Reports have been lodged with the police by both sides and the information must be made public. There must be no cover up. Whatever happened in the past should never be allowed to happen now – not in 2012,” PKR vice president Tian Chua toldMalaysia Chronicle.

“Additionally, there must be explanations on how come Nazri’s son has so much money to drive a Porsche and even needs a bodyguard who also drives a luxury MPV. The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission should get cracking immediately and not pretend to look the other way. This type of case reflects the arrogance of the elite Umno families. Even royalty have no right to bully people, regardless of whether they are Malaysian or foreign workers – professional or just laborers.”

Shocking arrogance?

Brickfields district police chief Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid has confirmed receiving 2 police reports on the case. Nazri’s son, Mohamad Nedim Mohd Nazri Aziz, had allegedly assaulted a security supervisor at the condominium on Tuesday night.

“The case has been classified under section 160 of the Penal Code committing affray,” police chief Wan Abdul Bari was reported as saying. He refused to give further details.

The police reports were lodged by Nedim’s bodyguard and the security supervisor, who is in his 50s and had suffered bruises. The supervisor was the first to make the complaint at the Jalan Travers police station, on the same night after undergoing checks at a hospital.

According to news reports, the supervisor had wanted to register Nedim’s name before allowing him to pass through in his Porsche, but Nedim did not want to comply. Nedim is recently married. His bodyguard then told the security that he was a ‘Tengku’ or royalty, but the supervisor still insisted.

Angered, Nedim allegedly alighted, choked the supervisor by his neck and punched his head while the bodyguard held the supervisor. “The supervisor could not fight back as he was being held by the bodyguard,” a source from the condominium’s management was reported as saying.

It is believed that the condo management is now under severe pressure to cover up the incident.

The bodyguard’s side of the story

The other report was lodged by Nedim’s bodyguard on his boss’s behalf at the same police station. The bodyguard admitted there was a scuffle and accused the supervisor of provoking it with his rude behaviour.

According to the Nedim side of the story, it was the supervisor who punched the bodyguard first and also challenged the latter to a fight. The bodyguard then kicked the supervisor in the stomach while the supervisor punched him in the face.

Nazri: I Did Not Interfere With Probe on My Son

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz has denied accusations that he misused his position to influence the outcome of the criminal investigation involving his son.

“I did not interfere at all in the investigations,” the de facto law minister told FMT today.

However, Nazri declined to comment on the cases itself, pointing out that it would be a conflict of interest to do so given his ministerial position.

“I can’t comment because that is my son… I cannot be using my government post to say something that may be favorable to my son,” he explained.

He also said since the parliamentary reply had come from the home minister himself, and not something from his ministry, he was not in a position to clarify.

“The answer [regarding his son] came from the home minster. I’m not the home minister. I wouldn’t know anything about it,” he added.

On a similar note, Nazri also said he did not blame the public for being interested in the case.

“There is nothing I can do. I am a very important person. I am very influential. My children know this and we all [my family] know that their lives will always be affected. We have to face such public scrutiny. This is something we have to accept,” he added.

The minister said he did not feel that it was unfair that people questioned the cases.

“I don’t think it’s unfair. When it came out in the papers today, and I just found out, I realised that public scrutiny will always be there. If I cannot take it, I leave politics,” he said.

Nazri said neutral parties, such as the police investigators, should clarify the facts of the case.

Asked if the media could interview his son, Nazri said: “He would (most likely) be bias, and defend himself. I think there is no need. Go to the neutral authorities. Talk to the police, don’t talk to me.”

On Wednesday, the Home Ministry confirmed that Nazri’s son, Mohamed Nedim, was not involved in an assault case in March this year and a murder in 2004.

The parliamentary written reply to a question posed by Kelana Jaya MP Loh Gwo-Burne stated that Mohamed Nedim’s bodyguard, and not him, was the one involved in the alleged assault of a security supervisor at a luxury condominium in March 2012.

The home minister’s statement also said that the case had been “settled amicably by both parties”.

Loh’s had also asked about the murder of one Darren Kang at the Uncle Don restaurant in Sri Hartamas, to which the Home Ministry had said investigations by the police had found that Mohamed Nedim was not involved.

Five Thai nationals were found guilty after being charged and convicted for five years by the court, it said.

On March 20, it was claimed that Mohamed Nedim assaulted a security supervisor at the condominium in Mont Kiara following a “minor altercation”.

It was alleged that Mohamed Nedim’s actions, where he had choked the supervisor before landing a punch on his head, were captured on CCTV. However, the police later said that the video footage showed that the minister’s son was not involved.

PKR Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin had previously brought up the incident of Kang, alleging that Nazri’s son was involved. It was reported that Nazri’s son was among those police had questioned over the case.

Earlier today, PKR and DAP had both questioned the assault case, and whether it was right for the Home Ministry to clear Nazri’s son, questioning if the case was closed because it involved a Umno minister’s family member.

Nazri’s son cleared over assault, murder

The Home Ministry has cleared a minister’s son over his alleged involvement in two criminal cases.

This was stated in a parliamentary written reply to a question posed by Kelana Jaya MP Loh Gwo-Burne.

The PKR MP had asked for the results of the investigations against Mohamed Nedim, the son of Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nazri Abdul Aziz, over the alleged assault of a security supervisor at a luxury condominium in March 2012.

Loh had also asked about the murder of one Darren Kang at the Uncle Don restaurant in Sri Hartamas around 2004.

On the first case, the Home Ministry said that the assault, classified under Section 160 of the Penal Code, was actually perpetuated by the former private bodyguard of Mohamed Nedim.

“The case has been settled amicably by both parties,” it added.

On the case of Kang, the Home Ministry said investigations by the police had found that Mohamed Nedim was not involved.

“In that case, five Thai nationals were found guilty after being charged and convicted for five years by the court,” it said.

On March 20, it was claimed that Mohamed Nedim assaulted a security supervisor at the condominium in Mont Kiara following a “minor altercation”.

It was alleged that Mohamed Nedim’s actions, where he had choked the supervisor’s neck before landing a punch on his head, were captured on CCTV cameras.

However, the police later said that the footages showed that the minister’s son was not involved.

Brickfields district police chief Wan Abdul Bari was then quoted as saying:”This is a minor case. We have already completed investigation. I do not know why and how another person (Mohamad Nedim) was dragged into this. It is a clear-cut case involving a bodyguard and a security guard.”

It was also alleged in a Malaysiakini report, quoting a source, that the management was pressured to cover up the incident.
