Netizen Calls AirAsia Out For Damaged Luggage And Rude Staff

Bad baggage handling is something all travelers fear, as our luggage leave our sight and into the cabin when we fly. We’ve seen one too many videos of baggage handlers disrespecting the property of others, throwing and stacking up luggage recklessly.

After an AirAsia ramp staff was caught on a viral video recklessly throwing baggage containing bicycles and eventually damaging it, Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AirAsia, Tony Fernandes pleaded his staff to handle passengers’ bags more carefully.

He said in another viral video,

“Please look after the bags better. Ok? Every day I got someone emailing me about bags.

“Don’t throw the bags anymore, kiss the bags.”

Shortly after that, KLIA2 luggage handlers took Tony’s advice literally and posted a series of photos of them kissing almost every luggage that goes down the ramp.

While we thought things would be better now that the issue of reckless baggage handling was highlighted, it seems like there are still some who still does it!

A video was uploaded to a Facebook page, Denaihati Network, showing a dissatisfied passenger with his damaged luggage after flying with AirAsia. Despite it being covered in cling wrap, the airline still successfully destroyed the luggage around the area not covered with the wrap.

Not only did he feel disappointed that his luggage was damaged, he was greeted rudely by the other staff who refused to assist with his situation.

We all can agree that filing a claim with AirAsia for damaged baggage is going to take a long time to process. Even if we successfully receive the compensation from the airline company, there is nothing to assure us that our luggage would be safe the next time we fly.

We also get it that carrying heavy luggage at least 8 hours a day is no fun, but it is part of your job, and it is irresponsible of you to let your company pay for your mistakes! You’re just waiting to get fired! 

Tony, we think it is time for you to be extremely strict toward your ramp staff, especially those who handle luggage.

    Tony Fernandes should answer to this. Don’t con your passengers! Don’t ever fly with Airasia because its the biggest “con” airline.
