Selangor and Kedah are set to clash with each other once again in the Malaysia Cup final this Saturday. Selangor won the previous Malaysia Cup final after beating Kedah 2-0 last year.
However, national team coach, Datuk Ong Kim Swee is not too concerned with the injury risk of his national players who are competing in the final. A total of eight national team players are set to feature for their side in the Malaysia Cup final.
“I cannot avoid injuries, and it can happen anytime. The best thing for now is that the players will give their best to their club and also to their country in any situation.”
“If any injuries happen, they are out of my control. To think about injuries right now, it is impossible.”
“All areas must be analysed and looked at in detail, not just our defence but also upfront, all players are not here yet, only on the 1st November.”
“From there I can assess my players and we’ll see from there. Right now our camp is getting better and the players are starting to communicate with each other. They know what they have to do during training sessions.” Ong Kim Swee said.
Ong Kim Swee also states that his side cannot take Cambodia very lightly as the two teams are set to face each other in their AFF Suzuki Cup first match.
“From what I can see in the qualifying round, Cambodia are a different team now, especially in terms of their technical strength and they have good individual players in the squad.”
“They have improved a lot and I already sent my assistant coach over there. We have to be careful and avoid taking them lightly. The first game would be very important.” Ong Kim Swee added.
