The world is reminded that even the ones entrusted with nuclear launch codes are human, and may be led to believe stories from fake news sites just like the rest of us, including Pakistan’s defence minister.
The defence minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, had earlier took to Twitter to issue nuclear threats to Israel, in “retaliation” for a recent nuclear threat, apparently issued from Isreal.
“Israeli def min threatens nuclear retaliation presuming pak role in Syria against Daesh,” the minister wrote on his official Twitter account, using an Arabic acronym for the Islamic State. “Israel forgets Pakistan is a Nuclear state too.”

The reaction was allegedly sparked after Mr Asif had read a piece of fake news, published on awdnews.com, which featured a headline that says “Israeli Defense Minister: If Pakistan send ground troops to Syria on any pretext, we will destroy this country with a nuclear attack.”
The internet, of course, did not take Mr Asif’s reaction kindly, many mocking him for mistaking a piece of satire for real news.
