On October 5, two men were shot dead by a lone assailant at One O One Cafe at Lorong Pahlawan 7A2, Sibu, at around 12.15 pm.
It was reported that the attack took place when the two victims were having some drinks with a Chinese-national woman believed to be the girlfriend to one of the victims.
According to the cafe owner, the assailant was wearing a helmet (not full face) and clad in a red long-sleeved jacket. He approached the three, whipped out a gun and fired several shots at the victims from a distance of about 5 metres.
The assailant then fled on a motorcycle parked nearby
The victims, Lau Ngik Yin, 47, and Loh Lik Siong, 21, were both shot with two bullets each and was pronounced dead at the scene. A witness was able to record down the license plate number of the motorcycle, QSM6732.
It is learned that the cafe doesn’t have any CCTV cameras installed, and the only witnesses to the attack are the Chinese woman and the owner of the cafe.
Sarawak police commissioner Amer Awal confirmed the incident and said a special task force had been formed to investigate the killing.
“It is too early for us to reveal further developments in the case at the moment.”
He also urged members of the public not to speculate on the case and let the police investigate it thoroughly.
We hope that the police are able to track down and capture the assailant as soon as possible, no matter what the reason, he did take two lives!
