Single Mothers, Homemakers, And Widows Can Start Registering For EPF Starting Now

Great news for housewives, single mothers, widows, and head of households (married men) whose profiles are listed under the National Database on Poverty (eKasih)! You can begin registering for the Employee Provident Fund (EPF) starting yesterday, August 15.

According to Bernama, EPF announced that the registration for Caruman Sukarela Insentif Suri (i-Suri) can be done at any of the 67 EPF branches nationwide.

Those who are qualified will be required to contribute a minimum of RM5 on a monthly basis into their retirement savings accounts. In return, they will receive a government incentive of RM40 per month, which will be deposited into their EPF accounts.

Some of the other benefits they will be able to enjoy as EPF members are:

► Annual dividends on their retirement savings

► Age 50, 55, and 60 Withdrawal

► Incapacitation Benefit

► Death Benefit

The new policy is in line with one of Pakatan Harapan’s manifesto pledges to introduce Employees Provident Fund’s (EPF) scheme for housewives.

EPF Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Operations) Mohd Naim Daruwish was quoted as Malaysiakini by saying,

“The registration drive of i-Suri follows the launch of the Suri Housewives Incentive by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail last week at the EPF International Social Security Conference 2018.”

Statistics from eKasih reveal that there are a total of 221,890 housewives, 98,536 widows, and 28,116 divorcees who will be eligible to sign up for i-Suri.
