Following the recent hype of former Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak being blacklisted by Malaysia Immigration Department along with his wife Rosmah Mansor, Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad revealed in a press conference at the Bersatu headquarters on May 12 that he was the one who prevented Najib from leaving the country.

Tun Dr. Mahathir announced three new cabinet ministries and he also said,

“It is true that I prevented Najib from leaving the country.

“Apart from him and his wife, I’m not aware of any other persons.”

The Immigration Department declared that they have blacklisted Najib and his wife Rosmah from leaving Malaysia, effective immediately.

Tun M said that the reason for the Immigration blacklist on Najib is due to ‘sufficient evidence into things that have been done’ by the former prime minister.

“There are a lot of complaints against him, all of which have to be investigated.

“If some of the complaints are valid… We have to act quickly because we don’t want to be saddled with extradition from other countries.”

Tun Dr. Mahathir also said that he wants to settle the 1MDB investigations as soon as possible as he doesn’t want to be ‘saddled with the issue of extradition’. He added that he has ordered the police department to remove the OSA tag from the 1MDB audit report.

“I’ve given instructions already to the police to remove the restrictions placed on it by the Official Secrets Act (OSA).  they will then submit the report to me, and I’ll study it in order to release it.

He added that they do not have an ‘Attorney-General’ as the new PH Government has placed certain restrictions on ‘a number of people who may be involved in wrongdoing or in making wrong decisions.’
