Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (pic) says there is no enmity between him and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and he will even campaign for the PKR president-elect for the Port Dickson by-election.
“But there are a lot of people making all kinds of remarks against me, so I think I’ll do that (campaign in Port Dickson).
“They’re talking about my ‘quarrel’ with Anwar and all that, then people will say I don’t support Anwar because of my quarrel,” said the Pakatan chairman after chairing the coalition’s presidential council meeting here Friday (Oct 5).
Dr Mahathir had earlier said that Pakatan component party leaders would be going down to Port Dickson for a big campaign function.
He also responded to electoral watchdog Bersih’s statement that the Pakatan campaign in Port Dickson seemed unfair to other candidates as Cabinet members had been campaigning for Anwar.
“Even though we are ministers, we have our own parties so we still have to do party work,” he said.
Dr Mahathir also expressed hope that outstation voters would return to cast their ballots on Oct 13 as there will be no postal voting.
