Rahim Thamby Chik wrote – “News of the conversion of the Selangor Raja Muda Tengku Amir Shah to Catholicism is very sad for Muslims in the whole country and the world. This sadness is compounded by the two tragedies involving Muslims in Mecca and Arafah. May the desire of the Selangor Sultan to meet the Pope in Vatican City be fruitful.”
Before you scream sedition till foam at mouth, as you usually do, the above was a copy-paste quote from pro-government media The Star. The Najib administration propaganda mouthpiece further added that Mr Rahim has said the Sultan of Selangor would meet the Pope at Vatican City.
Naturally, the Selangor palace was furious because the fake news could cause hatred amongst Muslims towards the Crown Prince and the Sultan of Selangor. So far, Rahim Thamby Chik, a former Malacca chief minister from 1982 to 1994, has apologised three times in the last four days over his Facebook postings above.
Rahim had admitted that the source of his claim was from an unsubstantiated website, presumably from a satire website called World Daily News Report, which among others reported a fake news that the crown prince has relinquished all his possessions and a chance to succeed to the prestigious throne of Selangor to follow his heart and marry Spanish top model and superstar 16-year-old Cristina Gomez.
The news spread like wildfire in July 2014 and the Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar had taken it seriously by warning netizens not to spread the news. Although Rahim has apologised profusely, the Selangor Council of the Royal Court isn’t convinced about his innocence, and it’s not hard to understand why.
Mr Rahim has apparently posted his statement, which the royal house concluded is sedition and slander, on Sept 25, 2014. The Council is perturbed because he did not take any steps to firstly verify the truth of postings in various other portals before giving his opinions and comments. A simple google about the subject would reveal the fake news.
Hanafisah, the council’s secretary, and the Selangor Sultan’s private secretary Mohamad Munir Bani have lodged two police reports over the Facebook post by a user named “Rahim Tambychik”. The name Rahim Thamby Chik may not ring a bell to young chaps, but he was one of Mahathir’s strongest allies during the golden days in the 1980s and 1990s.
In 1994, the then Chief Minister of Malacca, Rahim Thamby Chik, was reported to have raped a 15-year-old Malay school girl (under Malaysian law, sex with minor constitutes statutory rape). With nobody to turn for help, the girl’s grandmother-cum-guardian approached Lim Guan Eng, currently the Penang Chief Minister.
Guan Eng, who was then the Member of Parliament for Kota Melaka, spoke out against the rape by Rahim, who was also the UMNO Youth Chief back then. Sadly, not only the school girl didn’t get a fair trial, Guan Eng was arrested and charged by the police under the Sedition Act of prompting “disaffection with the administration of justice in Malaysia”.
In 1998, Guan Eng was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment. Although he was released after 12 months on 25 August 1999, he was disallowed to stand for public office for a period of 5 years. As for Rahim Thamby Chik, the then Attorney General Mohtar Abdullah, surprisingly, dropped all the charges against the Chief Minister of Malacca.
Due to the rape and corruption allegations, Rahim was considered too “high profile” hence forced to resign from all his posts. But he never went to jail. As for the underage rape survivor, she was initially detained for 10 years without parental consent. She was subsequently sentenced to three years “protective custody” in a house for “wayward girls”.
Let’s not talk about how Lim Guan Eng spent his time behind bars for speaking up against the rape. Let’s talk about what had Rahim Thamby Chik done to the royal house. He had posted something which doesn’t take a rocket scientist to conclude as an insult to the Malays, Islam and Malay Kings. So, here’s the man you’re looking for, Red Shirts.
It would be weird and laughable if he could and allowed to get away by simply apologising because he belongs to the Elite UMNO Club. The late Karpal Singh gave his ten cents worth opinion about a Sultan and his immunity against the law, as according to his interpretation on the law; and he was charged, fined and stripped off his Member of Parliament-ship. Isn’t Rahim’s act more serious than Karpal’s?
Because two ignorant Bersih 4.0 rally goers were caught stomping on PM Najib Razak’s picture, billions of Red Shirts took to the street in retaliation; claiming the Malays’ dignity, Islam and Malay Kings have been insulted. So, what should the Red Shirts make of Rahim’s latest antic, which he admitted by apologising but still deemed seditious by the Selangor Council of the Royal Court?
It will be interesting to see if Rahim, who is now the chairman of RISDA (Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority), finally be sent to jail, which is long overdue, together with Brother Khir Toyo who has been sentenced to a 12-month jail for corruption. If only Rahim had been jailed for rape back in 1994, he may have had repented and would not dare insults the royal house.
Reject ‘Father of all Melaka scandals’, DAP MP urges PPBM
A Pakatan Harapan lawmaker has made a strong call for Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM)’s Melaka chapter to reject any membership application by former Melaka chief minister Tan Sri Rahim Thamby Chik — dubbing him the “Father of all Melaka scandals”.
In a press statement today, Kota Melaka MP Khoo Poay Tiong recalled many scandals involving Rahim and pointed out that the latter is not the father of Melaka’s development as touted by some parties.
“To recall, Rahim Thamby Chik was the former Melaka Chief Minister involved in numerous scandals. In 1994, he was involved in a statutory rape case against a student, which was then covered up by the Attorney General.
“Instead, Lim Guan Eng, who was the Member of Parliament for Kota Melaka at that time, was imprisoned under the Sedition Act and Printing and Publications Act for standing up and demanding justice for the victim,” said the DAP leader.
He also pointed out that Rahim was also one of the individuals who seek to humiliate incoming prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim by publicly screening a false sex video back in 2011 in Carcosa Seri Negara.
Another scandal that Khoo dragged out of the closet was a police report lodged by Anwar in 1999 which alleged Rahim to have been involved in abuse of power and corruption.
What Is The Truth Behind The Rahim Tambi Chik-Norhayati Affair? – The Girl Shares All The Details of Her Affair Sessions With Rahim
What Is The Truth Behind The Rahim-Norhayati Affair?
Last night, Norhayati Mohamad Yusop made a public declaration that she was never involved with Rahim Tambi Chik, the disgraced ex-Chief Minister of Melaka. This has just added a new twist to the whole episode, which not only saw the downfall of Rahim, but also the jailing of Lim Guan Eng. As the say, the plot thickens, but what is the real story behind the Rahim-Norhayati affair – or was there even one in the first place?
Well, recently I interviewed someone from Melaka, a man very much involved with the whole episode, and here is his story.
“Rahim called me one day to tell me he was having an affair with this girl and that it was now giving him some political problems. He asked me to help resolve the problem. Rahim trusted me because I already had some business dealings with him.
He had given me a 1,000 acre piece of land along the PLUS Highway not far from Melaka, so I had an obligation to help him out.
Actually, in the beginning, Rahim was not having an affair with Norhayati, but with her elder sister, a bar girl whom Rahim was meeting often for sex. One day Rahim phoned her house and Norhayati answered the phone instead. She told Rahim that her elder sister was not home. She also told Rahim that she had been meaning to contact him because she needed to see him about something. Rahim then asked her to come to his office.
Norhayati went to Rahim’s office that same afternoon and told Rahim she needed to borrow some money. Rahim told her he had no money on him then and asked her to come back the next day, but to come after 5.00pm when the staff had all gone home.
Norhayati went back the next day as instructed and that was the first time they had sex – right there in Rahim’s office. Since then they met regularly for sex. Norhayati was in it just for the money.
I, together with two other friends, kidnapped Norhayati and took her to Sungai Golok in Thailand. Rahim gave us RM20,000.00 cash to take care of our expenses.
In Golok we questioned the girl at length and tape-recorded the conversation. The girl gave us all the details of her sex sessions with Rahim, even telling us Rahim’s sexual preferences, which was quite kinky and at times sick.
I then brought the tape back to Rahim and played it for him to hear. Rahim then asked me to meet the girl’s parents and negotiate a settlement with them, which I did. The girl’s father wanted RM500,000.00 plus another RM250,000.00 for the girl.
I also asked another RM250,000.00 for our “team”. All in all Rahim had to fork out RM1 million to settle this matter. I also handed the tape to Rahim and assured him there were no more copies though I did make one copy to keep just in case Rahim did not pay me my RM250,000.00.
The girl was very “hot”. In fact, while in Golok, all three of us also had a go at her. She was a real nymphomaniac and enjoyed sex so much.
The 1,000 acre land that Rahim gave me was subsequently sold to HICOM but I heard they could not get approval to build the industrial park that they had applied for. The Melaka government wanted HICOM to build low cost houses on the land, which was impossible on that piece of land.
You can still see the HICOM signboard on the land beside the PLUS Highway if you drive to Melaka. My brother, who is the Chairman of a public listed company, and a partner with HICOM, arranged to sell the land to HICOM.
