The Nothing To Hide 2.0 forum went into complete chaos after one of the members of the audience threw a random object towards the stage when Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was replying to a question regarding the 1985 Memali tragedy.
As soon as the water bottle flew up in the air, the whole crowd become aggressive and angrily rushed towards the source.
This also resulted in a chain effect as chairs and flares were thrown. Some sources even noted that a shoe was thrown directly at our former prime minister! Fortunately, all of the Opposition politicians including Tun M was safely escorted out of the hall without any harm.
Seriously, why can’t any of this kind of meeting be done in a professional manner? Why are there always barbarians who like to stir up things and cause harm towards others?
And I am not just saying about this gathering, even the word fights that go on in the parliament could easily beat any night markets’ atmosphere.
After the police investigated the incident, it seems that the ones who provoked the violence were teenagers, 17, 18 and 19 who were ‘hired’ with a mere RM50 payment. What’s even more baffling is the fact that the 18-years-old suspect holds a criminal record and is currently on trial for a rape case.
Some could say that “Criminals are hiring criminals” in this case.
