Itu perkara biasa, mungkin Azmin terlepas pandang – Zuraida
Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin today said the lawsuit brought against Economic Affairs Minister Azmin Ali by YHA Travel & Tours was a business matter and he was prepared to pay the bills if he has to.
The travel agency had been providing services to Azmin for over 20 years, she said after the pre-launch ceremony for affordable housing projects by the private sector in Putrajaya today.
Asked if this incident would affect Pakatan Harapan’s image, she said it would not affect the ruling coalition.
“I don’t think so because there are people out there who cannot pay their bills.
“In Azmin’s case, he said he’ll look into the matter and pay up. He’s not denying it,” she said.
Earlier this week, an article by Sarawak Report said Azmin was being taken to court over the outstanding bills amounting to RM300,000, which included private family vacations and his trip to Sandakan during the by-election there earlier this year.
The website, which quoted documents filed by YHA Travel & Tours, said the amount included Azmin’s flights for a six-month period.
Azmin had said he will pay any travel bills he owed, although he had yet to see the writ of summons reportedly issued to him.
When asked why he was being taken to court, Azmin said he did not know.
It is understood that case management for the suit has been fixed for Dec 3 at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court.
