Warisan Shafie Apdal Support Anwar Ibrahim Against Tun Mahathir - Sabah Leader Hails Anwar as ‘Last Samurai’ to Fight for Sabah’s Rights - The Coverage

Warisan Shafie Apdal Support Anwar Ibrahim Against Tun Mahathir – Sabah Leader Hails Anwar as ‘Last Samurai’ to Fight for Sabah’s Rights

A video purportedly showing Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal criticising ally Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) and likening it to Umno has been going viral in the state.

In the two-minute video, a man resembling the Parti Warisan Sabah president is seen in casual conversation with at least two women about PPBM and is heard saying that the party is “just like Umno”, and asked why they would join the party.

A party source, who declined to be named said that they believe the video may have been taken a while ago before PPBM’s entry into Sabah and was released now as a political manoeuvre to undermine Shafie’s leadership.

In the clip, Shafie is heard saying “This Bersatu is Umno. This is politics. So why do you want to join Bersatu?”, while the woman said that they heard they will lose their voice in Warisan.

“Who is in power now? Is Hajiji in power or me?” said Shafie, referring to PPBM Sabah de facto leader Datuk Hajiji Noor, when the woman brought the subject of PPBM’s “dominance” up.

Shafie is also heard saying that he could be deputy president of PPBM if he joined when Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad asked him to.

“But I didn’t because my aim is not going for positions,” he said, advising the women not to chase after positions in political parties.

Shafie is expected to comment on the video tomorrow.

The video is seen to be controversial due to the strenuous nature between Warisan and PPBM here after the latter reneged on an earlier promise not to set up in Sabah.

Shafie had struck an agreement with PPBM chairman Dr Mahathir for the latter to stay out of the state as they head into the 14th General Election in 2018. Warisan eventually aligned itself with the federal Pakatan Harapan government, giving them enough seats to defeat Barisan Nasional in the May 9 polls.

But after the defeat, many Umno elected representatives and members in Sabah wanted to join PPBM, claiming loss of confidence in the party’s direction. Dr Mahathir eventually announced that PPBM would open up in Sabah, to support the Warisan-led government.

Someone very close to our Anwar Ibrahim told me recently that when Wan Azizah met Shafie Apdal at the CM’s Office for the first time after Party Warisan took charge, Shafie it seems told Wan Azizah that if she becomes the PM he will be very happy.

Of course, Wan Azizah told her husband what was spoken. It seems Anwar was annoyed. So annoyed was Anwar with Shafie that even now he speaks about this openly. So i hear.

Anwar and Shafie were never close even during early Umno days in Sabah in the 90s, the friction goes a long way. In 2011 there was a sex video commissioned by the ruling elite to kill off Anwar Ibrahim’s political career. The video purportedly shows a man who resembles Anwar frolicking with a prostitute in a hotel room. The three men who confessed to discovering and publicly screening the tape were former Malacca chief minister Rahim Tamby Chik, businessman Shazryl Eskay Abdullah and Perkasa treasurer Shuaib Lazim.

Shuaib Lazim is the father-in-law of Shafie Apdal.

In the meantime, Labuan born billionaire, Tan Sri Ibrahim bin Menudin, the Chairman of Suria Capital Holdings Berhad, a close confidant of Anwar Ibrahim, is the go-between-man. Ibrahim is also Economic Advisor for Sabah Government.

Mahathir In Danger : It’s Anwar With The Edge In Numbers – Sabah Warisan & Sarawak GPS is Supporting Anwar

Shafie: Warisan accepts Bersatu in Sabah, ‘cannot stop them’

“I am aware of the feelings of our supporters and also the people in Sabah over the Bersatu decision.

“My advice is not to be emotional […] governing Sabah to the best of our ability and ensuring that our rights will be reinstated and affirmed as per the Malaysia Agreement 1963 remains our priority.”

Shafie had at the time urged prime minister and Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad to honour their understanding reached before the general election as Warisan enjoyed Sabah voter support.

Mahathir, however, stated on Friday that his party planned to go ahead with the move following requests from former Umno members who wished to join Bersatu.

Fellow Harapan leader, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, were among those who urged Mahathir to first discuss the matter at a Harapan leadership council meeting.

Anwar Ready to Meet Agong With Enough MP Statutory Declarations Signed – Tun M Planned to Dissolve Parliament Than Give the Position to Anwar

Anwar sahkan Shafie Apdal menyokong usaha menjatuhkan Dr Mahathir

PPBM Has Declared War On DAP & Azmin Has Declared War On Anwar : Anwar & Guan Eng Declared War on Hisham & Muhyiddin Made His Move

Pandikar hails Anwar as ‘last samurai’ to fight for Sabah’s rights

Former Umno leader Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia has pledged his support for PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, but stressed that it has nothing with politics.

He said he supports Anwar because he believes in his Reformasi movement, and is of the opinion that Anwar is the ‘last samurai’ who can fight for Sabah’s equal rights.

Anwar, who was present at the United Sabah Bajau Organisation’s (Usbo) Malaysia Day event here yesterday, also confirmed that both Pandikar and his former Umno ally, Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak, will not be joining PKR.

“We (want to) feel that we are an equal partner with the Peninsular. So that’s the responsibility you (Anwar) have, that’s why I said you are the last samurai to defend that,” Pandikar told reporters when met after the event.

“You can leave a particular party and you can leave friendships, but what matters is what is here. I don’t have to be a PKR member in order to support him (Anwar). I don’t have to hold a position in PKR as this is a genuine support. We support him because of the Reformasi movement.

“He has yet to implement that and we must give him the benefit of the doubt and a chance to implement what is in his mind – to be in a position where he can do that,” added Pandikar, who is also Usbo president.

The former Dewan Rakyat speaker had also apologized to Anwar for comments he made during the Sandakan by-election in May regarding the government fulfilling its pledge to reduce fuel prices.

USBO wants to rev up Muslim support for Anwar in Sabah

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim our PM-in-waiting is coming to Sabah on the 17th of September 2019. I’m made to understand that on reaching Kota Kinabalu, Anwar is expected to go to Kota Belud immediately where thousands of USBO (United Sabah Bumis Organisation) members including Pandikar Amin Mulia, Salleh Said Keruak, Amir Kahar Tun Mustapha among others will be officially joining Anwar’s PKR.

It seems USBO wants to rev up Muslim support for Anwar in Sabah.

Interestingly, Shafie Apdal from day one has been trying to win over USBO into Warisan, but seems like he has failed.

USBO’s membership is made up of Bajau, Bajo, Badjau, Jama Mapun or Kagayan, Balangingi, Binadan, Kubang, Sama, Sama Delaut, Simunul, Sibutu, Sikubung, Yakan, Sibaud, Ubian, Suluk and Iranun individuals.

USBO was formerly known as Persatuan Sabah Bajau Bersatu (PSBB) formed on June 15, 1964 and changed its name to USBO on Aug 31, 2006.

Sabah politics is getting more and more interesting. With this USBO move, PKR will be even stronger than Dr Mahathir’s Bersatu, and would certainly take the wind out of Warisan’s sails. USBO for sure is going to create a stir among political circles in Sabah with this move.

Anwar hopes to solve MA63 issues when he becomes PM

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday gave his assurance that the issues surrounding the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) would be resolved when he becomes the prime minister.

The Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president said the federal government was serious in restoring the rights of Sabah and Sarawak according to the agreement.

He said that MA63 was not a petty issue but there were weaknesses in its implementation as it has been delayed for many years.

Anwar, who is also Port Dickson member of parliament, said that though he has a minor role in the government, he has always been supporting and monitoring the governance to ensure there were no weaknesses.

He reminded party members to remain steadfast in their principles to defend the rights of the poor, underprivileged and marginalised people irrespective of their backgrounds.

“I also would like to remind that it is fine to criticise leaders but never betray the spirit of the party (in upholding justice and reformation).

“When Pakatan became the government, among the first steps taken by Dr Mahathir was to give freedom to the media. But, when we are criticised, some cannot take it.

“If he or she understands reformation, he would listen (to criticism) and answer properly and politely, that is our new culture,” Anwar said, adding that the party should move away from old perceptions that politics was merely about power abuse and a way to be wealthy.
