A Woman In India Gets Shot In The Head By Husband For Serving Dinner Late

One thing we worry most about alcoholics is when they start to get violent.

An Indian man was arrested by local authorities in India for allegedly shooting and killing his wife all because she served his dinner late.

60-year-old Ashok Kumar was reportedly drunk when he came home on Saturday night to their home in Ghaziabad near the Indian capital Delhi and he got into an argument with his 55-year-old wife Sunaina.

Local senior police officer Rupesh Singh said,

“The man used to drink every day. On Saturday, he came home drunk and started having an argument with his wife. She was upset with his drinking habit and wanted to talk about it, but he wanted dinner immediately.

“He got frustrated with the delay and shot her.”

Sunaina was already dead by the time she was taken to the hospital. Singh said that Kumar has since confessed to his crime.

Sadly, domestic abuse has been the most reported violent crimes against women in the country every year for more than a decade now. While domestic violence is common elsewhere, India is unique due to the culture of silence and tolerance for it in the society.

According to a survey carried out by the government, more than 54% of men and 51% of women said it was okay for a man to beat his wife if she disrespected her in-laws, neglected her home or children. Some situations many include something as trivial as putting more or less salt in the food.

While we do not condone domestic violence, it is still happening everywhere in the world, the only way we can stop this is for the victims to speak up and seek help, then only the authorities can step in to apprehend them. Either by a fine or lock up, to teach them a lesson never to raise their hands to anyone ever again.
