Zahid Smacks Anwar Over DAP : “Anwar Is Too Indebted To DAP & DAP Is UMNO Enemy As It Opposed Islam & The Malays”

Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has hit out at PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for using DAP to advance his own political ambitions.

The Umno president said Anwar was also ungrateful for labelling Umno, which he once was the deputy president, racist.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has taken another shot at PKR president Anwar Ibrahim over the latter’s ties with DAP.

“Umno will reject any offer to cooperate with Anwar as long as he is in cahoots with DAP, full stop.

“I have to say this repeatedly because people just don’t get it,” he said, adding that DAP is Umno’s enemy as he claimed it opposed Islam and the Malays.

“Anwar is too indebted to DAP.

“Everything that DAP does is right as they are now the backbone of their political partnership.

“Anwar has to carry that view to achieve his political ambitions,” he told The Star.

Anwar, speaking after giving a talk on nation-building here yesterday, has labelled Umno and Ahmad Zahid as being racist for refusing to work with anyone connected with DAP.

“It is a clearly racist argument, and you should be able to work (with anyone).

“To me, to meet (the goals of) the country, you must be able to work with any Malaysian or any political party which shares the same principles and ideals,” he said.

“They must be specific. They disagree on DAP on what?” Anwar asked.

“They cannot just generalise and condemn the party over principles.

“I have worked with DAP, and I have no problem with that,” he said.

To this, Ahmad Zahid, in an apparent reference to Anwar’s past rise in Umno, said: “Only an ungrateful person will say Umno is racist.

“Umno and Barisan Nasional never practised racism and our agenda is to care for the interests of all races and religions which will be continued to be carried out, as have been proven when we were the government,” he said.
